On Employment background checks, do they only check the state you are being employed in??

I have a theft conviction in Ohio, 5 years ago. Will this stop me from getting the job in Arizona?

I don’t know if it will keep you from getting a job, but if your honest up front it will look better on you. Background checks covers everywhere so it more than likely will show up on your record.

Are you a cognizant human being?

They check everything they are able to. This isn’t like getting a top secret security clearance from the DoD.

You have a theft conviction. So? Even some ex-felons find employment.

When I have background checks run it shows criminal activity in all states, but that may vary by employer. I checked on a new employee a couple of years ago and found out he was wanted in another state — they asked for his new address and he was arrested!!!

It depends on the employer but nowadays it is so inexpensive to run a nationwide criminal search $12. 95 that most companies do conduct them.
